Hero Stray Pit Bull Saves Woman and Child From Attacker

So you hear of pit bull hero stories where a dog saves their owner, or they save another dog, and those stories are quite common, though not reported heavily in the media.  The media likes to only report on pit bull dogs who have a mishap, and they love to depict our dogs as bloodthirsty savages – brainless killing machines.

Those of you who know better would come to expect the stories where a pit bull stands up and puts his or her life before the life of their owner or of a family member or friend.  Pit bull type dogs are very loyal and loving and will often ignore danger to save their beloved family members.  In fact we just recently reported on such a hero.

But this story is different.  This is the story of a stray pit bull who ignored serious danger to save the life of a woman and her child – strangers he had never met.  This courageous dog put his life on the line for humans the dog had no real duty to defend, people he had no emotional investment in.

Enter “Angela”, who was with her small child in a Florida parking lot when a man with a knife charged up to her, threatening her life in front of her son Jordan.

Before she could blink or think of what the attacker’s intentions were, our stray pit bull hero charged the man, who turned tail and ran for his life, realizing that he was severely outgunned.

Rightly shaken, Angela got her son Jordan into the car and tried to drive off, but had an unexpected canine visitor in her back seat.  The courageous pit bull had happily jumped in and wanted to come home with them.

Naming the dog “Angel”, Angela says she will adopt their heroic savior pittie if the dog’s owners don’t step forward in the five days required by the city’s animal shelter.

Angela told NBC2 News “I don’t know what his [the thief’s] intentions were — I don’t know why he did it, but I’m glad that — we call him Angel — I’m glad that Angel showed up because I don’t know what would have happened.”

Good luck, hero pit bull, we hope you find a great and loving home with Angela and little Jordan – for your enormous courage and bravery in defending two people you didn’t even know we are proud to induct you to our Pit Bull Heroes Hall of Fame!  Go Angel!
